Jean Smith was born in Manchester but now lives in West Yorkshire with her husband, John and Billie the cat.

She has been writing for five years and began by taking a night school class run by Maria Stephenson, “Write a novel in a year.”
Inspiration comes from life and extensive reading. She enjoys crime thrillers and travelling which as both her children live abroad, one in Spain and one in California is fortunate. She taught Business and Citizenship in Bradford for fifteen years after taking a BA(Hons) in Business and Public Media at Leeds Trinity University and then transferring to study an MBA at Bradford University.
Jean and her husband ran two very different businesses until Jean decided to retire and develop her writing. Currently, she is studying for an MA in Creative Writing at Leeds Trinity.
Her book, “Ashes and Anarchy” is in the final stages of development and she is compiling a short story collection.
